  • MCSD & PCDOH 2017 Influenza (Flu) Clinics

Making FREE vaccination available to your child during the school day eliminates additional demand on your time and your child will be better protected from influenza. Immunizing the student helps to keep the larger community safe as well.

The Putnam County Health Department has worked with the Mahopac Central School District to schedule the following dates to provide influenza immunization to your school community.

2017 school flu vaccination clinics are scheduled as follows:

    • Austin Road – 11/08/2017
    • Fulmar Road – 11/09/2017
    • Lakeview Elementary – 11/09/2017
    • Mahopac Middle School – 11/14/2017
    • Mahopac High School – 11/16/2017

Visit the Nurse

If your child is not feeling well it is best to have him/her seen by your health care provider.

If your child has a fever please keep him/her home from school.  No child should return to school until they are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medeication.

You can always assume that we have many illnesses here at school (especially strep throat, Chicken Pox, Fifth's Disease, conjunctivitis and lice)

Please be aware that Putnam County has identified pertussis (whooping cough) in our school community.  Pertussis is a highly contagious disease that is spread through the air by coughing or sneezing.  Please have your child's persistant cough checked by their health care provider.

The nurse is available for emergency health problems and first aid during the school day.

The nurse administers a hearing screening to all students in grades K, 1, 3 and 5.  A distance vision screening is offered to students in grades K,1,2,3 and 5.  Parent/Guardians will be notified via phone/mail if there are any abnormalities noted during any of the screenings.

Scoliosis Screening is mandated for those students in grade 5 who have not been checked by their private physician.

A physical exam is required of all new students and those in grades K, 2 and 4.

Please be sure to call in your child's absence to Attendance at (845)628-3331 ext. 25.

Please contact Mrs. Brunetti, the school nurse, with any questions.
